After many wonderful and successful years the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Camp has become revenue neutral. It is also getting very difficult to find people who will take on the responsibility of being the camp director (which is much larger job than simply being at the camp for a week in August) and so the board of directors took the decision at their November 2018 meeting to discontinue this wonderful tradition.
If anyone is interested in running an Ottawa area camp the CGMFA is prepared to provide as much information as possible.
Thank you to all who have instructed, helped, or attended as a student over the years and have provided us with such wonderful memories.
Many thanks to all the Camp Directors who gave their heart and soul to the camp over the past 20 years along with countless invaluable volunteers!
About the CGM Fiddle Camp
The Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Association holds a fiddle camp every summer, known as the CGM Fiddle Camp. The camp is held at the Long Island Locks Camp Facility, Manotick, Ontario, 10 kilometers south of Ottawa.
Our fiddle camp is designed for fiddlers and pianists to learn old time tunes and piano accompaniment.
This is an opportunity to learn from some of the best musicians in Canada in a relaxed setting where we want you to have fun while you learn. If you love traditional fiddling and have a basic knowledge of playing, this camp is for you. We have classes for everyone, young and old, and for all levels of playing.
